What We Believe

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, only inerrant, authoritative Word of God. The Bible is the basis for our beliefs and conduct.

God
We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (the Trinity). God is both Creator and Redeemer. God is sovereign in the affairs of men and of the entire universe.

Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His death on the cross and the atoning work of His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and one day He will personally return to rule and reign over all.

Man
We believe that man was created by God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. We acknowledge that all men have sinned and were separated from God, and only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

Salvation
We believe that salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.

Baptism
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, as well as the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, remember and memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Evangelism and Missions
We believe that it is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of our church to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to constantly seek to win the lost to Christ by personal effort and by all other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ.

Cooperation
We are in cooperation with the Treasure Valley Southern Baptist Association, the Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
The Southern Baptist Cooperative Program partners with other local churches in supporting six seminaries, over 5,000 missionaries in North America and over 5,000 missionaries around the world.

Pastoral Staff

Pastor Bill

Bill Young, Senior Pastor
Pastor Bill is a native of Boise, ID. His journey with the Lord began over 20 years ago when He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in 1992. He responded to God’s call to ministry in 1993 and was later ordained in 1996. He and his wife, Lori, have been members of Pierce Park Baptist Church since 2003. Bill was called as the Senior Pastor in 2008 after previously serving in the role of Interim Pastor at the church.
He is a dynamic preacher who is passionate about proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. Since becoming a Christian, Bill has committed his life to serving God, serving people and carrying out the vision God has placed in his heart. He is faithful in encouraging the church family at Pierce Park to live out what Jesus commissioned, “As you go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing, and teaching them to observe all things that Jesus commanded. (Matthew 28:19-20) Fulfilling His commandments provide great purpose in transforming the lives of individuals, families, and our community, as we impact the Kingdom for Christ.
Bill and Lori were married in 1981. They have five great kids and six grandchildren: Nikki (married to Bryce) and their kids Matthew, Lucas, Andrew, and Hannah; Tiffany and her sons Issac and Anthony; Jacob, Dani, and Angie.

JW Hardy
J.W. Hardy, Associate Pastor
Pastor J (J.W.) and his family moved to Boise in 2009 after he accepted the position of Head Track and Field and/Cross Country Coach at Boise State University (BSU). During his time in the Treasure Valley, J.W. has served at Pierce Park Baptist Church working with the youth and also lead a collegiate ministry on the BSU campus.
Prior to his arrival to Idaho, he spent 12 years in Flagstaff, AZ where he coached at Northern Arizona University (NAU) and was the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field from 2004-2009. During his time in Flagstaff, J.W. was licensed to preach the Gospel at Greenlaw Baptist Church before serving at First Southern Baptist Church where he was ordained on February 15, 2009. He has a passion for mentoring and ministering to young people as well as preaching and applying God’s Word to our lives. J.W. and his wife, Amy, met while attending college at NAU. They are parents of two wonderful children; Kennedy and Traevin. J.W. earned his Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Northern Arizona University in 1993 and holds a certificate in teaching from Chapman University. Amy is a Professor in Speech Pathology at Idaho State University-Meridian campus and serves at Pierce Park as the nursery coordinator, a Sunday school teacher and flutist on the Worship team.
J.W. accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as a child. His journey to full-time ministry is the result of a few “spiritual milestones” in which he responded to the calls the Lord placed on his heart. His life verse(s) can be found in James 4:14-17. “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say,“If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
