God’s Toolbox

God's toolbox

If someone asked you to build a home and gave you the plans and all the materials: concrete, Sheetrock, bricks, wires, etc, but didn’t give you other necessary tools like saws, hammers, nails, screwdrivers, pliers, etc; How effective would you be in building the house?
Just as there are a variety of materials and workers necessary to properly build a house, a variety of Believers are necessary in building up and edifying the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12, 15-20, (12)For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. (15)If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. (16)And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. (17)If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? (18) But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. (19)If they were all one member, where would the body be? (20)But now there are many members, but one body.
God has a place for you in His church! He has The Plans in order, but wants you to do the job with the heavenly tools He has provided you with.
Do you know your spiritual gifts (tools)?
He wants you to enjoy using them in building the Body of Christ.
Don’t let your tools sit the box unused!
Consider ways you can put your tools to work in building God’s Kingdom.

Got Milk?

1 Peter 2:1-2, “Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.”
When a child is born, he or she is a human being to the fullest sense, yet his or her entire life is spent developing physically and emotionally as a human.
When you accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, you become a Christian; holy and blameless in God’s sight.  Your sins are forgiven, yet salvation is only the starting point in living a life of holiness.
As you grow in holiness you demonstrate to others your identity as a child of the King; a “holy one.”
We can not purify ourselves, however, in 1 Peter 1, he reveals that purification comes from obedience to God’s truth.
Growing in holiness should bring about the desire to drink the pure milk of the Word.  This will not only help you learn, but it will help you grow and become mature in faith.
Remember– God has already accepted you as His holy child.  But, growth as a mature Christian requires that you desire and partake of the pure milk of the Word!

Liberty in Christ

Galatians 5:1-3, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.  And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.”
Paul wrote to Galatian believers to provide understanding of the reality of their freedom in Christ.  He wanted to make sure they understood that keeping the law of Moses was not a factor in order to be saved.
The Galatians were on the verge of again becoming enslaved to the law of Moses.
Paul wanted them to know that they only need to stand fast in the Liberty which is in Christ Jesus.
Freedom in Christ does not involve self-rule and independence from God.  It doesn’t require you performing certain actions to gain God’s acceptance. Circumcision didn’t bring about liberty for Galatian believers  and “works” won’t bring about liberty for you.
No one is able to keep the whole law! For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but through the atoning work of Christ; all who believe and trust in Him can experience true liberty.
In Christ, you are free—free from the power of sin and selfish independence.
In Christ, there is Liberty!

I’ll Stand

I'll Stand
So what could I say? And what could I do?  But offer this heart, Oh God
Completely to You
I’ll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
I’ll stand
My soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours (The Stand, by Hillsong United)
The only way for you to Stand in the midst of a fierce battle against the evil one is through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 22:31-34, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
Shortly after uttering those words, Peter struggled to stay awake long enough to pray for the One he called Master.
Peter later denied knowing Jesus, the Christ.
How did this happen?  Hours earlier Peter said he would die for Jesus, yet when it was time for him to stand, he denied the Lord.
The warning was given that an attack was coming.
If you are going to withstand the attack of the enemy, you must engage through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Peter lacked what it took to endure the attack from Satan because he tried to Stand in his own ability.
When you offer your heart and completely surrender to the Lord, He will give you the power to Stand firmly in any situation.
So what can you say? And what can you do?   But offer your heart, completely to Him.
Stand by the power of the Holy Spirit and  withstand the attacks of the evil one.
I’ll Stand!!!

Step by Step

Walking step by step seems pretty routine in daily life.  However, it requires so much more if you want to stay in cadence with the Spirit in your Christian journey.
Walking in the Spirit requires that you do what God tells you to do, which means you must be consistent in reading and hearing God’s Word in order to obey His commands.
As you go, step by step, you progressively discover what the Spirit reveals through the Scriptures.
Colossians 1, Paul writes to encourage the saints and prays they would be filled with knowledge of the will of God so that they may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.
Colossians 1:9-10, “For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
Walking in the Spirit happens by learning God’s methods through systematic and consistent study of His Word.
As you persistently explore and examine God’s Word, His Spirit will fill you with Truths that step-by-step will fill you with all that you need to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.
This is the Lords’ desire so that you will please and bring glory to Him; bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
As you read, study, meditate, ponder, and revel in God’s Word, you can know what God says and How He says to accomplish it.
Step by Step!

Fully Equipped!

fully equipped
As a Christian, God has equipped you for every good work.  The presence of Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee to strengthen and give you the power necessary to get through pain and let downs, as well as, provide you with all that you need to accomplish a task.
1 Corinthians 1:26-31, “For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
When you lay aside your ability and personal desires in order to follow Christ; He will equip you for every good work and provide you with hope, freedom, and joy to walk in obedience.
His glory will be revealed through you.
It is only when you willingly lay down your desires and submit to Him, that God can be glorified in your life.
Apart from Him you can do nothing; Allow God to fully equip you this day!

Help is on the Way

A failing marriage; an unexpected phone call; disappointing news about an illness—sometimes we just don’t know how to pray.
However, in times like these….Help is on the Way.
Romans 8:26-28, “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
When you don’t know what to say or how to pray….Help is on the Way.
The Holy Spirit is your greatest ally.
He knows your need. He is able to help. He can take your request before the Father.
The Holy Spirit intercedes according to the will of God and can uncover the true desire of your heart.
If you are struggling with a situation or feeling helpless, call upon the name of Jesus; trusting in the supernatural intercessory of the Holy Spirit.
Job 32:7-8, “I thought age should speak, and increased years should teach wisdom. But it is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.”
The Holy Spirit is your Advocate and imminently effective in making your request known to God.
Help is on the Way!

Face the Future

None of us knows what the future holds, but if you have given your life to Christ then at least you know Who holds your future.
We all have to face the future; facing it with the Lord’s guidance allows you to face it with confidence.
Psalm 31 is a psalm that David probably penned when he was persecuted by Saul. It is a mixture of prayers, praises, and professions of his confidence in God.
Psalm 31:1-3, “In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be ashamed; in Your righteousness deliver me. Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; be to me a rock of strength, a stronghold to save me.  For You are my rock and my fortress; for Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.”
David prays, that God in His righteousness would deliver, protect and shelter him in his troubles.
He sought after God’s providence for security and comfort;  by His grace to keep him safe and guide him in life.
Everyone on earth is completely ignorant of the future, but God is all-knowing and by His Spirit you can receive leadership and guidance to deliver, protect, and shelter you as you face the future.
As you face the future, don’t worry or fret; pray, search the Word, and ask the Lord to guide you by His Spirit.
God’s infallible guide, the person of the Holy Spirit, will navigate you to the place He wants you to be.
The Holy Spirit desires to guide you into God’s truth and a more intimate relationship with Christ.
He wants to lead you through the decisions of today knowing how they fit in the Lord’s will for tomorrow.
Seek the Lord and Face the Future!

Stay Passionate, Keep Serving!

The world is filled with various passions; passion for money, power, and position–the list could go on.
However, as a Christian, we are called to be passionate in serving others.
Ephesians 6:7-8, “With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.”
Passion for the Lord is what will sustain you when fear, adversity, or trouble threatens your existence.  A passion for God involves a love for Christ that is constant regardless of circumstances.
Godly passion will keep you from walking away from the things that God has called you to do.  It is important to remember that what you are doing is anointed by God.
In staying passionate, remember not to focus on serving others without spend quality time in God’s presence.
When you spend quality time with Him, you will be able to hear His voice and discern what it is that He wants you to do for the benefit of others and glorifying Him.
As you go throughout your day, remember to seek the Lord, stay passionate, and keep serving!

Can I get a Witness

Your testimony in knowing Jesus as Savior and Lord is powerful and effective in edifying the body of Christ as well as for evangelism.
For many non-believers, the Bible is viewed as a book of stories that are antiquated and irrelevant for this life. That’s why sharing what the Lord has done in your life is so powerful.
People can relate to real-life stories of what God has done and continues to do in your life.
Psalm 145 is a psalm of praise written by David as he extols the Lord and declares of His greatness.
Psalm 145:3-6, “Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of Your majesty
and on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness.”
Engaging with other people in everyday situations, provides an opportunity to make known the incredible reality of Jesus Christ and God’s Word.
As you let the light of Jesus illuminate your circumstances and give testimony of the love, hope, joy, and peace that is found in Christ, you make His presence known to others in a very real way.
Almost everyone on the planet can identify with doubt and the struggles this life can bring.
However, as you continue to seek God, grow in faith, and testify of His greatness, it provides an opportunity for God to use you to make Himself known to others.
